Knowledge. With direction. That’s what our in-person visits are all about.

Global Learners visits elementary and middle schools in Monroe County on a monthly basis.

Structure of our Visits

  • 01: Intro Presentation

Initial presentation about the facet we will be focusing on and information about current events in that area occurring around the world.

  • 02: Whole Class Activity

Activity relating to the topic where we engage students and get them thinking and interested before we dive into focus groups.

  • 03: Focus Groups

Each of our administrative team members works with a small group of student to solve real problems relating to the set topic, from usually the perspective of a politician or world leader.

  • 04: Research Project

Project where we assign a small research-based task and follow-up on it during our next visit.

Our team has worked tirelessly to make sure that our visits are meaningful. With a lot of experimentation, we came up with four impactful and concise pillars to structure our visits. Instead of these students just passively taking in information, we teach them to apply it and become more interested in their passions within our categories of current events. Our visits are roughly one hour per classroom (30-100 kids depending on the subgrouping decisions made by teachers) and our content is always pre-checked by our teacher sponsors and youth board, in order for us to make sure our information and activities are both appropriate for the given age group and substantial enough for us to leave their session knowing that they have both learned and applied their knowledge.
